There is another way to extend the bloom time …REBLOOMING
IRISES
***
Most Tall Bearded Irises bloom in Spring and then are dormant in summer and early fall.
HOWEVER, Rebloomers (about 10% of irises) are continually growing
and may bloom as many as four times during
a calendar year –
depending
upon the severity of the winter.
***
There are two “kinds” of reblooming Tall Bearded
Irises:
| CINDERELLA'S COACH |
|
|
| Consistently Reblooming Iris |
| ABUNDANT SUNSHINE |
|
|
| EML and Reblooming Intermediate Iris |
1.
The EML’s (Early or Mid Season or Late Season)
Apparently the “internal bloom clock” on these irises
is not
as consistent as that
of the other irises and they may bloom at any time
during the regular iris season.

Examples of EML’s His Iris Garden are:

The other rebloomers are the CONSISTENTLY reblooming irises.
These irises rebloom reliably every year – some as many as 3 to 4 times.

Each
description in our listings includes
the bloom season characteristics, and
reblooming designation if appropriate.
Therefore, if one does a bit of research
and shops carefully, an iris garden
can become a rainbow of color
for several
months – not just a few weeks.
